The characters were real, each with a story to tell.   As their stories unfold, the women out of necessity turn to one another - upholding each other through the the various life trials.  Through it all, their connection with one another deepens and grows, as does their understanding of themselves.  I highly recommend this book for women from teens to seniors.  Each character represents a different season of life!
