I will start off by saying that I am a Joel Osteen Fan. I
began watching his Sunday service a few years back when I found my
teenage son watching. I figured if Osteen could get my son's
attention, I should give him a listen. I wasn't sure if I
liked him at first. He seemed a bit plastic and he just smiled
too much (sorry Joel!). But the more I watched, the more I was
convinced that God was using this man to reach millions of people
with a positive message from God's Word. When his first book
came out, I read it and learned so much. When Become a
Better You was being advertised, I knew I had to get a copy.
I'm sure glad I did.
Living a life of purpose has become a hot topic in Christian
publishing since Rick Warren's The Purpose Driven Life came
out in 2002. Purpose is still a buzzword today. However,
Become a Better You goes one step further. With a fresh
twist, Olsteen encourages readers to push themselves to the next
level, always seeking to be the best person that God created them to
be.
This book was really an enjoyable read. The author touches
on topics such as building better relationships, how to handle
criticism, being content where God has placed you, and staying true
to yourself and your dreams.
Become a Better You leaves the reader with a firm belief
that Jeremiah 29:11 still applies to us today: God does indeed
have a plan for our lives and He seeks to give us hope for the
future.
Kudos to author Joel Osteen. This book is a winner.
