Book Description: Laney McCain has unabashedly had her
sights set on Galen O'Sullivan for years. And though Galen has
treated her as nothing more than his best friend's pesky tag-along
sister, Laney dares hope that now is the time he will open his eyes
and truly recognize the woman she’s become.
But the arrival of Ishmael and Ivy Grubb, squatters
on the O'Sullivans' land, diverts Galen's attention. Though the
Grubbs are crass and uneducated, Galen shows mercy and allows them
to stay in exchange for help around the farm. But it becomes a
decision he lives to regret….

This book is very good and holds your attention. There are a lot of
lessons to learn from it including love of God, family, friends, and
even people you just meet unexpectedly. Patience, tolerance,
forgiveness, working together, sharing each others problems, and looking
out for each other are also virtues Hake promotes in this novel.
The characters in this book are awesome. I wish I could say I would be
as forgiving as Laney was and as accepting as Galen's mom, but I don't
think I could be. Ivy steals your heart or at least she did mine. Her
twin was also a great heart stealer for me in how he watched out for his
sister and was a hard worker always. Galen sure was a Christian man and
wanted to help people in every way he could, even when his own heart
ached.
The ultimate lesson that this book delivered to me was that God knows
everything and has our best interest in mind. We need to trust and obey.
