Author Information: Haddon W. Robinson (Ph.D., University of
Illinois) is the Harold John Ockenga Distinguished Professor of
Preaching at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Previously, he was
president and professor of homiletics at Denver Seminary and taught
homiletics at Dallas Theological Seminary for nineteen years.

I am taking a Expository Preaching Class as part of my
preparation to be an ordained Wesleyan minister and this book is the
text. I was thinking it would be a boring "how to" textbook on
preparing sermons, but I was definitely pleasantly surprised as I
read this book for the class.
This book made a profound impact on my preparation for ministry.
Author Haddon Robinson has a passion for God's Word, and a love for the
preacher as well as the congregation that will hear the sermons.
In this book he provides the preacher with a systematic approach to
biblical preaching, emphasizing the importance of preaching the truth
from Scripture.
While I've never read the original book (this is an updated version)
there is lots of praise for it by others stating it has updated
illustrations, expanded sections (especially helpful is the expanded
chapter on narrative preaching), and suggested reading.
Biblical Preaching is an outstanding primer on the preaching
task. If you are a student, pastor, or lay leader, I highly
recommend you get a copy....and read it!
