of an Amateur Believer

Nelson Books
An entertaining collection of inspirational, gritty, challenging
writing that follows an unwilling atheist's first encounters with
God, her ensuing struggles and progress as a reluctant believer, and
her ultimate discovery of contentment and rest in faith.
Bolding honest in her examination of spiritual life, Patty Kirk
recounts her passage from unbelief to belief in a compelling memoir sure
to satisfy readers longing to taste authentic faith. Early on in her
journey to God, in the throes of doubt and secret hope that God's
promises were true, she comes to the comforting conclusion that "to seek
is to hope, and to hope urgently, insistently, with certainty, is to
have all the faith we need in order to survive whatever lies ahead." Her
reflections follow that hope through everyday struggles to rest and
contentment.
